| When you have a good opportunity to do for your community and its youth, you do it. For the past five years Mendota Youth Recreation has serviced the community with the Red Ribbon and Halloween Carnival. It organizes and sponsors this project with the help of the local agencies, such as Westside Youth and the Fresno Sheriff's Department. We have agency guests such as Project Compass, Fresno Local Consevation Corps, Fresh After-School Program, California Highway Patrol, Fresno Co. Aprendo Van, FCEOC Rural Tobacco Program, Craycroft Youth Center. It is an afternoon of clean, healthy fun. There are free games, free raffles, free candy bags; including the dance and costume contests. We also had the local Cobra Cheerleaders to give a sporting dance routine to excite the crowd. We have to thank the local businesses who donated to this deserving cause but especially to Ramon's Tire and Wheel Co. located at 261 Oller Street, Mendota Mr. Gabriel Gonzalez, our City Manager & Mr. Leo Capuchino, our City Councilmember; each sponsoring with a cash donation. We would also like to thank Westside Youth and Nancy Daniel, Mr. Joseph Amador, Mr. Robert Silva, Chicago Tile and Arcelia Garcia & her group, the After School Programs with Rosario Vasquez, Project Compass, the Craycroft Center with Mr. Larry Grey; for all donations which helped with our free raffle for the kids.
