On October 30, 2007,  Mendota Youth Recreation sponsored
its  5th Annual Red Ribbon and Halloween Carnival. We
would like to thank the community for making this event a
complete success. There were over 600 people who attended
the event and enjoyed the festivities. We gave out 500 bags of
candy, had free games and prizes, free music, free raffles. We
had a Costume contest with one female and one male winner.
We also had a dance contest with 4 winners, 2 females and 2
males. There was the famous cake walk where everyone was
having so much fun and the winners had delicious cakes to
take home. Our games included 2 bean bag throws, spider
tosses, milk bottle game, and the limbo game. The lines were
long but after you played you received tickets for the free
prizes. We didn't have more games because some of our
volunteers had gotten sick and were unable to attend. But the
fun was still there!

We recognize that each year that we do this, our event grows
and more children attend. The community service that we do
is to bring positive projects that help our youth make wise
choices and improve their quality of life.
