Merry Christmas Everyone! This year we had an especially nice electric parade! Although it was chilly, we had no rain and a generous amount of people that came out to see the parade! And to date, this year was the longest one yet. We also had a large group of vendors that came out to service the public with all their wares. We had food vendors, clothing vendors, toy vendors, vegetables and fruit vendors, and arts & crafts. All the more to make the afternoon enjoyable. There was also music that entertained the ears with a little soul, a little christmas, a little mexican, a little bit of everything. Special thanks to all the participants of the Parade! We had Ms. Samantha Rodriquez from Kerman with her dressed up horse. We had the Penecostal and Christian churches with their floats and dancers. We had a new local group called "La Promotoras" which will be some of your local leaders in the future. Thanks to our participating businesses; Sorensen Machine Works, Gonzalez Tire and Transport, Ramon's Wheel and Tire, Valley Propane, the Salvadorian community, Fresno Co. Sheriff's Dept. with the Mounted Unit and the Boat Enforcement Unit. Special thanks to Fresno Co. Supervisor Phil Larson and his brother for coming out to Mendota in their color lighted Bug and participated in the Parade! Thanks to Westside Youth and Mr. Robert Silva who so kindly donated and filled 500 bags of candy, apples, and oranges to give to the first 500 kids at the parade. Kudos to Nancy Daniels and her volunteers for taking the time to fill the bags! Mendota Youth especially wants to recognize the financial donors to the Parade. Without the help of Hall Ag, Mid Valley Disposal, and Rivers of Living Waters Church, we would have had less money at the end of the year to start a new year with new programs and projects. Lastly, I would like to thank all the volunteers, staff, Boardmembers, who so graciously gave of their time on this successful evening. Kudos to Mr. Raul Varela and Mr. Joseph Amador for being so good on the microphone and as the announcers of the evening; Joey for getting the parade lineup going as things got hectic. To Corina, Board President...for being there as I got cranky and crazy and settled me down as she always does.. To the City of Mendota... thank you for allowing us to service our community and the children of Mendota. We thank all the Staff and Public Work members who worked so diligently on this particular evening. From the standpoint of the community, we succeeded on this evening. Thank you Mendota! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! |
