The hardest thing about baseball is trying to explain it. We had 6 Little league teams, 4 Rookie teams, and 4 Tball teams. These teams practiced and practiced to be the best they could be. They tried their hardest and succeeded to improve on a weekly basis. Our 4 year olds played their hearts out. They ran, they caught balls and kept playing to the end. The 5 year olds were better at the game this year. They knew where to throw the ball, where to stand although they needed help still to bat off the tee. The 6 year olds were commanding. They were the solid rocks for the young teams because they knew how to catch, how and where to throw, and how to hit that ball....out...there...to.. the.. out ...field. And that was just the Tballers. As for those Rookies, caramba! The pitchers were fantastic! They were throwing no hitters on all four teams.. and when they did hit, the outfielders were ready for them. These children can hit by the way. They were definitely hitting to the outfielders and making them work for their positions. The fielding positions worked to make their mark in the game. What was important to note, that this was the first time that many played on a team. But the marked improvement showed by the end of the season. We had very close ball games at the last half of the season. Little League is one of the pride and joys of MYR. We had a very rocky beginning because for two years, there was never enough kids to play ball. But this was one of the goals MYR had as a priority. But Mr. Jaime Gamez and Mr. Hugo Rios helped to accomplish that. This past year, Mr. Victor Felix helped us to accomplish that. We had 6 teams that were outstanding. They know how to play! Now our job is to get them to play as well as they know how at tournaments. The pitchers, Joel Placenscia, Robert Hernandez, Mauricio Rodriguez, Christopher Figueroa, Victor Felix, Gianni Criado, all know how to do their job. Infielders, Juan Lopez, Salvador Garcia, Alejandro Figueroa, Jonathan Cisneros, M&M Lopez, Elainea Luna, Lorenzo Medina, Brianna Soria, Marcus Torrez, Marco Rodriguez, Eddie Pineda, Micheal Romero, Eddie Ruiz Christian Ruiz, John Ochoa, Ruben Rivas, George Hernandez, Rafa Quintanar, Eric Zavala, Sam Lozano, Jose Puente, Isaac Gonzalez, Nickolas Cropper, Lorenzo Medina, Jesus Villegas .. all were great; outfielders Jessica Rodriquez, Jade Parish, Jose Amador, Denise Reyes, Liliana Andrade, Maggie Padilla, Raynee Garcia, Marc Romero, Angelica Quezada, Hector Rios, Manuel Banuelos, Antonio Romero, Alejandro Gonzalez, Alejandro Ortega, Jose Rodriguez, Then I have David Garcia, Raul Angel, Jacob Ismalej, Alfredo Ramirez, Jose Ramirez, Christopher Hernandez, Arnold de Leon, Jennifer Jasso, Abel Rodriguez, Yadira Guardado, Antonio Quezada, Victor Garcia, Heriberto Florez, Rigo Rueda, Angelo Garcia, Ariana Toscano, Bryan Garcia, Elvyn Martinez, Denise Luna, Clarrisa Canales, Victoria Felix, Julie Medina, Jose Ortega..these guys were tremendous players, on field or off. These children will make history because they were the start of a new day for Mendota. They are our future middle school players or our next champions at Mendota High. The experience they get during our baseball program is just to get them ready for their future. But their talent will be brought out only by the hard working skills and experience of such Little League and Baseball Program coaches as Mr. Paul Valenzuela, Mr. John Ochoa, Mr. Victor Felix, Mr. Jose Figueroa, Mr. Cesar Mercado, Mr. Josh Garcia, Mr. Michael Vallejo, Mr. Josiah Martinez, Mr. Ronnie Garcia, Mr. Mario Plascencia, Mr. Mario Plascencia Jr., Mr. Anthony Torres, Mr. Kiki Rojas, Mrs. Lupe Torrez, Mr. Rick Munoz, Mrs. Diana Toscano, Mr. Lionel Villobos, Mr. Alfredo Muratalla, Mr. Gerardo Garcia, Ms. Justina Muratalla, Mr. Anthony Ochoa, Ms. Sandra Guererro, Mr. Luciano Carbajal, Mr. Victor Garcia, Ms. Delia Diaz, Ms. Vanessa Zepeda, Mr. Jose Ochoa. These same dedicated coaches are your neighbors that live next door to you or maybe across the street. Please take the time to thank them because their time and hard work was given free as volunteers to the youth of this program and to the children of Mendota. I personally appreciate them dearly. Thank you ladies and gentlemen. I would also like to give a couple of special thank you's to the following people: 1) Mr. Paul Valenzuela- Mr. P took on a big responsibility this year by starting a Babe Ruth team in Mendota this past summer. He not only coached it but sponsored the team. This is a costly business but he did it to further the sport for the 13 to 15 year olds. So thumbs up Mr. P.!! Mr. P is the High School Girls Softball coach. So this is an added project that will give our kids the edge on winning baseball. 2) Mr. Alfredo Muratalla- Alfredo also is a sports enthusiist and also the Middle School baseball coach. Thumbs up to you Mr. Muratalla for giving all of your spare time! 3) Mr. Anthony Torrez- Anthony was coach for three divisions of the baseball program. He also has 3 boys to teach baseball to. And when he isn't coaching, he is a teacher for Mendota Unified School District. He coaches football also. So thumbs up Mr. Torrez to you! 4) To all our coaches, thumbs up to you!! You are all hardworking men who give freely to our organization and to the children of Mendota despite the hard work that you do daily. |
